For scams or fraud: Dangerous fake profiles may try to steal personal
information, money or passwords. These profiles are often created by people
who want to harm or cheat others.
Around 40% of social media users in India have reported receiving a friend request from a
fake account at least once. These fake profiles often use borrowed photos and pretend to
be students or friends to collect information.
