“REMEMBER this rule, if you do not know the person in
real life, do not accept their requests or share private
information.”
Now that you know how to spot a fake profile, let us also learn why chatting with
strangers online can sometimes be risky or dangers.
Dangers of Talking to Strangers
Strangers online are people we do not know in real
life, and even though they may act friendly, they can
sometimes have bad intentions. They might hide
their true identity by lying about their age, name, or
where they live, which makes talking to them risky.
While chatting with them may seem fun, it can also
be dangerous because we cannot know who they
really are. An online chatting becomes dangerous
because of the following reasons:
People can lie: Some strangers online may pretend
to be someone they are not. They might show fake
pictures or stories. You can never be sure if they are
telling the truth.
Sharing personal information: Giving your full
name, address, school, phone number or photos
to strangers can be dangerous. Strangers can
misuse this information in ways that can harm you
or your family.
Tricky messages: Strangers might send
messages asking you to do things that are
unsafe or secret. They may ask you to click
links, share photos or meet them, which can
put you at risk.
