A FRIEND REQUEST GONE WRONG
Neha enjoys playing online games and often chats with other players. One day, she
receives a friend request from someone claiming to be a new student at her school.
The profile picture looks friendly, and the messages seem kind. Neha accepts the
request and starts chatting with them.
Over time, the new “friend” begins sending Neha mean messages, teasing her about
her appearance and hobbies. The messages make Neha feel sad, anxious, and scared
to go online. She realises that the person she trusted was pretending to be someone
else to hurt her. Neha now understands that not everyone online is who they say
they are and that cyberbullying can happen even from someone pretending to be a
friend. She decides to block the person and tell a trusted adult about the situation.
Based on the above case, answer the following questions:
1. What mistake did Neha make that allowed the cyberbully to target her?
2. How can Neha protect herself from cyberbullying in the future?
