Imagine your footprint. It is unique no one else in the world has one exactly like it.
Your Personal Data is like your digital footprint. It is all the information that can be
used to identify you online and in the real world.
Every time you use the Internet, play online games or even use apps on a phone
or tablet, you share some information about yourself. This information can be your
name, age, address, phone number or even your photos. This information is called
personal data.
Types of Personal Data
Some common types of personal data are as follows:
Your full name: Your full name is part of your personal data because it identifies
who you are. For example, your first name, middle name (if you have one) and
last name.
Your school name and grade: Your school name and grade are personal
data because they tell others where you study and your level. For example,
“Greenwood Primary School, Grade 4.”
Your home address: Your home address is personal data because it shows
where you live. For example, “12 Rose Street, Delhi.”
Your phone number or email ID: Your phone number or email ID is personal
data because it helps people contact you. For example, “07700 123456” or
“emma.smith@email.com”
