Get Hooked

Phishing The Process Behind Phishing
Spotting a Phish Actions to Take if Phished
Common Phishing Scams Preventing Phishing Attacks
Imagine a fisherman trying to catch a fish. He uses tasty bait to trick the fish into
biting the hook. Phishing works the same way, but the bait is a fake message or
website designed to fool you into giving away your information. This chapter will
show you how these traps work and how to avoid getting caught.
“Phishing (pronounced ‘fishing’) is like fishing, except the goal
isn’t to catch a fish but to trick people into giving away personal
information such as passwords or account details.”
PHISHING
Phishing is a common online trick used to fool people into sharing
personal information. It often appears safe at first, but the goal is
to steal details such as passwords, bank information or private
messages. Understanding how phishing works helps users stay
alert and avoid falling into these traps.
