Fake Tech Support Scams
Tech support scams involve a scammer pretending
to be a representative from a well-known company.
They claim there's an issue with your device and ask
you to download software or pay for services that
are either unnecessary or non-existent.
Spear Phishing Attacks
Spear phishing is a targeted form of phishing, where
the attacker customises their approach, often
focusing on a specific individual or organisation.
These attacks are more sophisticated, often using
information gathered from social media or other
sources to make the scam seem more believable.
Lottery or Investment Scams
In lottery or investment scams, you might be told
that you've won a lottery or investment opportunity.
These scams often require an upfront payment or
the sharing of personal information to claim your
winnings. Once you pay or provide details, the
scammer vanishes with your money.
Online Shopping Scams
Online shopping scams are designed to trick people
into paying for goods or services that never arrive.
These scams often occur on fake or compromised
websites that mimic legitimate online stores. Once
you make a payment, the products either don't
arrive or are of poor quality.
Every day, more than 3.4 billion phishing emails are sent worldwide. These emails are
designed to deceive recipients and steal sensitive information.
