Identifying Permissions That Aren’t Required

To identify unnecessary permissions, check the following:

Apps functionality: If the app’s function doesn’t
align with the permissions requested (e.g., a

simple game asking for access to your camera),
                       it’s likely unnecessary.

Permissions prompted by the app: Often, apps
will ask for permissions during installation or

upon first use. Think about whether the requested
access is critical to the app’s core purpose.

Permission justification: Legitimate apps often explain why they need certain
permissions. If there’s no clear reason, the permission might be unnecessary.

App reviews and information: Check reviews or descriptions in app stores to

see if other users have flagged unnecessary permissions.

Why Saying NO Keeps You Safe?

By saying no to unnecessary permissions, you limit the amount of personal data an

app can access. This helps protect your privacy and prevents the app from misusing
your information. Denying permissions for non-essential features reduces the risk of
malware, data breaches and unnecessary tracking. It’s a simple but powerful way

to keep your device and personal details safe.

Benefits of Denying Unnecessary App Permissions

                                                           Protect Privacy
Prevents apps from accessing sensitive information like
                                                           location and contacts.
                                                           Reduce Data Collection
Limits the amount of personal data apps can collect
                                                           and sell.

                                                           Prevent Unwanted Interactions
Stops apps from using microphone or camera without
                                                           consent.
                                                           Minimise Security Risks
Reduces vulnerabilities that hackers could exploit.

                                                           Avoid Malware
Prevents apps from installing malware or spyware.
