Here's how it works:
First Factor Your Password: The first thing you need to keep your account
safe is a strong password. This is like the first key to open the door.
Second Factor A Code: The second part of 2FA is a special code that you get
on your phone, email or an app. After you type your password, the website or
app will send you a code that you need to enter. This is like having a second key
to open the door, which only you have.
2FA makes it much harder for someone to steal your account, even if they know
your password. It’s an extra step to make sure that you and only you, can get into
your account.
Types of 2FA
There are different ways to receive your second code in 2FA:
Text Message (SMS) : A code is sent to your phone via text message. You
type it in to confirm it’s really you trying to access your account.
One-Time Password (OTP) : An OTP is sent to your phone or email and you
enter it alongside your password to verify your identity.
Email : The website sends a one-time code to your email, which you retrieve
and enter to complete the login.
Biometric Verification : Some services use your fingerprint or
face recognition as the second factor for added security.
