DIGITAL DEVICES IN RURAL LIFE Century #Technology Literacy
Skills
In a village in Himachal Pradesh, shopkeepers, farmers, students and residents all use digital devices to
make life easier. For example:
Mr. Sharma, who runs a small grocery store, now accepts digital payments (using UPI) even for small
purchases like vegetables or milk, using his smartphone or computer.
Farmers check weather forecasts, crop prices and receive government scheme updates via smartphone
apps or laptops.
Students use tablets, smartphones, computers or laptops to attend online classes, access educational
videos and download study materials.
Women in the village, through a programme like Internet Saathi, are being taught how to use the Internet,
apps and digital tools to stay informed and manage finances using smartphones and computers.
Health workers use social media and messaging apps on smartphones and laptops to remind people
about vaccinations or health camps.
Identify at least three digital devices mentioned in this scenario. Then, in pairs, compare your list with your
partner’s and add any additional devices that your partner identified.
To enjoy all the great benefits of your digital devices without
facing danger, you must make a habit of doing a quick Safety
Check before you use them. The image below highlights Set a strong password
