Understanding Cyber Grooming
Cyberbullying Vs Cyber Grooming
Cyberbullying and cyber grooming are growing online risks affecting young people today.
Cyberbullying includes hurtful messages, fake posts or spreading rumours, while cyber grooming
involves strangers building secret trust to exploit children. With more screen time, social media,
gaming chats and messaging apps, staying alert and speaking to a trusted adult is essential for
safety.
“Cyberbullying happens when someone follows or harasses you online and
offline on your phone, computer or even at home.”
CYBERBULLYING
Cyberbullying is a type of online bullying that takes place on digital platforms such as social media,
messaging apps or gaming communities. These spaces allow people to share posts, photos and
messages but unfortunately, they can also be misused. In cyberbullying, a person (the attacker)
shares hurtful posts, false information or even private details about someone else (the victim)
with the intention of embarrassing, threatening or humiliating them in front of others online.
