UNDERSTANDING CYBER GROOMING
Cyber grooming is when someone on the Internet tries to become friends with a child to gain their
trust for wrong reasons. The person may pretend to be kind, friendly or of the same age. They may
send messages, gifts or compliments to make the child feel comfortable. After gaining trust, they
may ask for personal information, photos or secrets.
“A groomer is like a tricky wolf in sheep’s clothing pretending to be nice to
gain your trust, but their kindness is not real at all.”
