Respect Introduction to Digital Respect
Understanding Netiquette Safe and Ethical Online Behaviour
In today’s connected world, interacting online has become a daily part of life. Just as we show
respect and courtesy in face-to-face communication, it is equally important to behave responsibly
in digital spaces. Digital respect means valuing others’ opinions, privacy and feelings while using
technology, whereas netiquette refers to the set of rules and guidelines that promote polite, safe
and effective online communication.

polite, respectful and safe while using the Internet just like you do in real life.”
RESPECT
Respect is an important value that helps people live, learn and
work together peacefully. It means treating others with kindness,
understanding and fairness. Respect shows that we care about people’s
feelings, ideas and personal space. It can be shown through our words,
actions and behaviour, whether we are at home, in school or online.
When we treat others with respect, we create a friendly and supportive
environment where everyone feels valued and safe.
