Stay safe online: Use strong passwords, avoid talking to strangers
and report anything that makes you uncomfortable.
Over 33% of children in India have experienced cyberbullying, underscoring challenges in digital
respect among youth online.
Respecting Others in the Digital World
Respect is important in every part of our lives, including the digital world. When we use the Internet,
play online games or chat with others, our words and actions can affect people just as much as
they do in real life. Showing respect online helps create a safe, positive and enjoyable experience
for everyone. Some ways respecting others in the digital world benefits everyone are:
It creates a safe space for everyone: When people use polite
language, avoid hurtful comments and report harmful behaviour,
the Internet becomes a safer place, allowing everyone to feel
comfortable sharing ideas and working together.
It helps build positive online communities: Respectful behaviour
encourages friendly conversations and teamwork. Whether it’s
in a classroom app, a group chat or a gaming platform, being
kind and fair helps create communities where everyone feels
included.
It protects our personal information: Showing respect online
also means thinking before we share. When we keep our
personal details private and avoid pressuring others to reveal
theirs, we help keep ourselves and others safe from online risks.
