KABIR’S DIGITAL FOOTPRINT
Kabir enjoys playing online quiz apps and sharing his scores on social media. To unlock bonus
levels, he often signs in using his email and allows apps to “access contacts” without reading the
permissions. One day his teacher showed him how many apps were linked to his account and how
they were collecting his data in the background.
Kabir was surprised to learn that his posts and shared scores were part of his active digital footprint,
while the apps collecting his contact list and usage information formed his passive digital footprint.
He decided to remove unnecessary apps, stop sharing personal details and check permission settings
before signing in anywhere. Kabir realised that small online actions can build a big digital footprint.
Based on the above case, answer the following questions:
1. Which actions created Kabir’s active and passive digital footprint?
2. What mistake did Kabir make while signing in to apps?
BUILDING A CONSTRUCTIVE DIGITAL FOOTPRINT
Building a constructive digital footprint means creating a positive online presence that reflects
your values, skills and personality in a responsible way. A strong, positive digital footprint can
help you in your personal and professional life by showcasing your strengths, building trust and
opening up opportunities.
