How Much Screen Time is Too Much?
In today’s digital world, it’s easy to get caught up in screens. However, it’s important to recognise
when screen time becomes excessive. Below are some signs to help determine if screen use is
negatively affecting our health and well-being:
Physical Discomfort
Eye strain, headaches and poor
posture from screen use.
Declining Mental Health
Extended screen time leads to anxiety,
stress and negative feelings.
Lost Time
Excessive Time lost without purpose due to
Screen Time screen usage.
Sleep Issues
Screen time interferes with sleep
patterns and rest.
Social Isolation
Online activities replace
face-to-face social interactions.
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but moderation is key. It’s important to create a healthy
balance between screen time and other activities like exercise, socialising and relaxation to
ensure overall well-being.
Productivity: It refers to the ability to efficiently complete tasks or produce work, often with
the goal of achieving more in less time.
Self-worth: It refers to the value or esteem a person place on themselves, based on their
beliefs, feelings and perceptions about their own abilities, qualities and achievements.
Isolation: It refers to the state of being separated from others, either physically or
emotionally, which can lead to feelings of loneliness and disconnection.
Cyberbullying: It is the use of digital platforms, such as social media, websites or messaging
apps, to harass, threaten or harm others through harmful messages, posts or actions.
