The digital world is a wonderful place. It allows people to connect with friends, play games
and explore new things. However, just like in the real world, there are rules about how to treat
others online. Unfortunately, some individuals use their devices to harm others. This is known as
cyberbullying. In this chapter you will learn what cyberbullying is, why it’s harmful and how to
become responsible and kind digital citizens.

“The cases of cyberbullying have risen over the years so it is important
to understand this and take steps to prevent it.”

                  CYBERBULLYING

Cyberbullying is the act of using digital platforms, such as social media, text messages or online
games, to intentionally harm, intimidate or manipulate others. This can include spreading
false information, sending threatening messages, excluding someone from online groups or
impersonating them to cause emotional distress.
