Fraping
It is a form of cyberbullying that occurs when someone gains unauthorised access to a victim’s
social media account (like Facebook, which is where the term originated) and posts inappropriate,
embarrassing or malicious content in their name. The content is intended to humiliate the victim
and damage their online reputation or friendships.
Let’s understand this with the help of the given scenario:
During lunch break, Rohan forgot to lock his phone before leaving his desk. A few classmates took
the chance to open his social media account and began posting silly and inappropriate messages
pretending to be him. Later, Rohan started receiving confused and angry replies from friends who
thought he had written those posts. He felt embarrassed and worried that people would stop
trusting him. His teacher explained to the class that using someone’s account without permission
and posting as them is fraping and is a serious form of cyberbullying.
Fake Profile
A fake profile is a social media account made with false
or stolen information. People create these accounts to
hide who they really are. Often, they use them to do
harmful things like bullying, harassing others or tricking
people for money. The main goal of a fake profile is to
fool others and because the person’s real identity is
hidden, it’s very hard to catch or punish them.
Let’s understand this with the help of the given scenario:
Someone secretly created a social media account using Aarushi’s photo and name, pretending
to be her. The fake account started sending rude messages to her classmates, making them
believe Aarushi was being unkind. Very soon, many students became upset with her and stopped
talking to her at school. Aarushi felt confused and hurt because she had no idea why everyone
was avoiding her. When a friend finally showed her the fake account, the issue was reported to
the school and the platform and the account was removed.
Dissing
Dissing happens when someone posts or sends hurtful,
cruel or insulting information about another person online
to damage their reputation or make others dislike them.
Let’s understand this with the help of the given scenario:
Aarav recently topped his class in Maths. Another student,
feeling jealous, started posting rude comments about him
on a school WhatsApp group. The comments claimed Aarav cheats in every exam, even though it
wasn’t true. Soon, some classmates began avoiding Aarav because of the lies being spread. Aarav
felt upset and confused because he didn’t understand why someone was targeting him online.
