A day later, the influencer’s account messaged him: “Congratulations! You’re shortlisted! Please fill
out this shipping form with your parents’ names and home address.” Vihaan felt excited, but also
a little uneasy. Wanting to win, he filled in every detail. A week passed with no prize. The influencer
stopped replying. Then, Vihaan began to notice strange things:
                        Friend requests from unknown adults

An online ad using his photo, pretending he was selling the watch

A mysterious van driving slowly past his house, with the driver taking a picture of the street
Suddenly, Vihaan’s excitement turned into fear. His small choice to look popular had created a real-
world safety risk. Now, he didn’t know how much of his personal life was in the wrong hands.
Based on the above case, answer the following questions:

                    1. What mistake did Vihaan make when posting his photo for the contest?

                    2. If Vihaan had paused before posting, what questions could he have asked himself to avoid
revealing sensitive information in his photo?

Detox: A break from social media to reduce dependency and regain control over one’s time
                         and attention.

Addiction: A compulsive need to engage in an activity, such as social media use, often
leading to negative consequences in daily life.

Hashtags: Words or phrases preceded by the “#” symbol used on social media to categorize
content and make it easily searchable.

Social media refers to platforms and apps that allow users to create, share and interact with
                            content online.
Social media encourages comparison to peers and celebrities, leading to body dissatisfaction.
When social media use becomes a habit that’s hard to control, it’s called social media addiction.
Spending too much time on social media can cause people to neglect their schoolwork, hobbies
                            or chores.
Content on the Internet is often permanent, so it’s important to think carefully before posting.
Hashtags help you reach the right audience, but overusing them can make your posts look
                            spammy.
