When should I use mute?
When a group sends too many messages throughout the day.
When you want to study, rest or focus without constant alerts.
When a chat is active but not important for you at the moment.
Using Privacy Settings
Messaging apps include privacy tools that help you control what others can see about you. Using
these settings keeps your personal information safe and reduces unwanted attention. By choosing
who can view your details, you create a safer and more comfortable online space. To protect your
privacy while using messaging apps, follow these important settings:
Profile visibility: Limit your profile photo and status so only your saved contacts can view
them instead of allowing everyone access.
Last seen: Hide your “Last Seen” status to stop others from tracking when you were last online.
Contact control: Allow messages only from people saved in your contact list to avoid chats
from strangers.
Personal details: Remove sensitive information such as your full name, school name or
location from your profile to stay safe.
Status privacy: Choose who can view your status updates so only trusted contacts can see
what you share.
Chat filters: Turn on message filters that move unknown or suspicious chats to a separate
folder, helping you avoid unsafe conversations.
Read receipts: Disable read receipts so others cannot see when you have opened their
messages, giving you more control over your privacy.
