It prevents cyberattacks by defending against malware and hacking attempts.

It maintains trust with businesses and individuals by securing sensitive information.
It ensures compliance with legal regulations through proper data protection practices.

It minimises data loss by regularly backing up files and protecting them from accidents.

                  BACKUP! – THE SAFETY NET

A backup is the process of making a copy of important files and storing it in a safe place, like an
external hard drive or cloud storage. It’s like keeping a spare key for your house in your bag, so
                  you don’t get locked out.
Have you heard the story of Toy Story 2? During the making of the movie, Pixar accidentally deleted
a large part of the film. The movie was saved because an employee had a backup copy of it stored

at home. This shows how important it is to keep copies of your important data in a safe place.
Just like Pixar made sure to back up their film, it’s important to back up your own files, like school

projects or photos. By storing them on an external hard drive or in cloud storage, you can easily
restore them if the original files are lost, damaged or hacked.

                  Why Data Backup is Essential?

                  Taking backups is essential because:
Your device might get stolen or damaged (dropped, spilled on).

A virus or malware could corrupt or delete your files.

You might accidentally delete something important.
So, keep extra copies of important files so you don’t lose them.

“Always follow the 3-2-1 rule to keep your data safe. Let’s learn about
                                                                    this in detail.”

                  The 3-2-1 Rule

Digital identity begins the moment an individual starts interacting with the digital world. It is shaped
by several key components that come together to form a complete picture of who they are online:

The 3-2-1 rule is a simple way to keep your data safe. It means:

Have 3 copies of your data. One original and two backups.
Store your backups in 2 different storage media. For example, keep one on your computer and
another on a USB drive or cloud storage.
