how you investigate cybercrimes, how businesses protect their data, and even how you act online.
It’s important to be aware of confirmation bias because it can lead to poor decisions and unfair
                  outcomes.
For companies that protect information online, confirmation bias can create problems. Here's
                  how it might happen:

Ignoring other threats: A security team might focus only on the types of cyber attacks they faced
in the past, like a virus attack. But they might ignore other new types of threats, such as phishing
or ransomware. This can leave their system vulnerable to attacks they weren’t prepared for.
The "Insider" trap: If a company boss believes an employee is stealing sensitive data, they
may only look at that person, focusing all their attention on them. Meanwhile, the real threat
could be an outside hacker, which they might overlook.

Wasting money: Sometimes companies buy the latest, most expensive security software
because it’s trending in the news, even if it’s not the right fit for their needs. This happens
because they may already believe that the latest software is the best, ignoring other solutions
that might work better for them.

Overcome Confirmation Bias and Make Smarter Decisions

To avoid the negative effects of confirmation bias, you need to think critically and make more
thoughtful decisions. Here’s how you can overcome confirmation bias and make smarter decision:

Listen to both sides: Try to understand all points of view, even if you don’t agree with them.
This will help you make more informed decisions.
Ask questions: Don’t just accept information as true. Always ask where it came from and
whether it's reliable. This helps you avoid jumping to conclusions.

Be open-minded: It’s important to realise that you might be wrong about something you
believe strongly. Being open to new ideas allows you to learn and grow.

Even with knowledge of cyber laws, cybercrimes can still occur. It’s essential for students to know
how to report a cybercrime in India. Below is some important information to help you:

                  Cyber Cells
