PREDICT THE ATTACK Century #Critical Thinking
Skills
Understand how artificial intelligence predicts cyberattacks before they occur by analysing patterns and
unusual behaviour.
Read each scenario carefully. Discuss in pairs or groups, then write your answers.
Scenario A: A system tries connecting to the same foreign server every hour.
Scenario B: A user’s account is accessed from India and just 5 minutes later from Canada.
Scenario C: An app suddenly requests access to all files on the device.
Now, answer the following questions by considering each scenario:
1. What suspicious behaviour is happening?
2. What cyberattack might occur next?
3. How would AI predict this in advance?
FUTURE CHALLENGES IN CYBERSECURITY
As technology continues to advance, cybersecurity faces increasingly complex challenges. The
growing use of IoT devices, 5G networks, cloud computing and artificial intelligence expands
the attack surface and creates new vulnerabilities. Cybercriminals are developing more
sophisticated attacks, including ransomware, AI-powered malware and targeted attacks on
critical infrastructure. Protecting sensitive data, ensuring privacy and maintaining trust in digital
systems will require stronger encryption, continuous monitoring, advanced threat detection and
adaptive security strategies. The future of cybersecurity will face new challenges.
Few are listed as follows, with real-life examples:
Deepfakes and fake news: Artificial Intelligence can create realistic fake videos of leaders,
celebrities or other public figures, spreading misinformation and causing panic.
Example: In 2025, the Andhra Pradesh government warned people about a deepfake video
showing Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu allegedly threatening farmers. The video
included fake voice-overs and misleading captions designed to misinform the public.

circulation-of-ai-videos-targeting-naidu/articleshow/123791915.cms)
Ransomware: Ransomware attacks involve hackers locking data or systems and demanding
money to release them. Such attacks could increasingly target schools, hospitals and other
critical institutions.
