CAREERS IN CYBERSECURITY

The digital world is growing rapidly and with this growth comes a greater need to protect sensitive
information from cyber threats. As a result, cybersecurity has become one of the most dynamic,
in-demand and fast-growing career fields globally.

“Experts predict that India alone will need over a million cybersecurity
professionals in the next few years to keep our country's digital infrastructure
safe. So, for students like you, a career in cybersecurity is full of opportunities
and a chance to do something truly important!”

Different types of jobs in the field of cybersecurity are as follows:

Ethical Hacker (White Hat Hacker): An ethical hacker is a security professional who is
authorised by an organisation to test its systems and networks. They simulate real cyberattacks
to find vulnerabilities so that these weaknesses can be fixed before malicious hackers exploit

them. Ethical hackers help strengthen overall system security.

Cyber Forensics Expert: A cyber forensics expert investigates cybercrimes by collecting,
preserving and analysing digital evidence. They examine computers, mobile devices, networks
and logs to identify how an attack occurred and who was responsible. Their work helps in legal

                     investigations and court proceedings.

Security Analyst: A security analyst monitors an organisation’s networks and systems for
threats around the clock. Their job includes detecting unusual activity, analysing alerts,
blocking malicious traffic and responding to cyber incidents. They play a key role in preventing
                     attacks and ensuring continuous protection.

AI Security Specialist: As organisations increasingly adopt artificial intelligence, AI security
specialists work to secure these systems. Their responsibilities include using AI tools to
detect advanced threats, protecting machine learning models from attacks and ensuring AI
is not misused for malicious purposes. This role combines expertise in cybersecurity and AI

                     technologies.

Chief Information Security Officer (CISO): A CISO is a senior executive who oversees
an organisation’s entire cybersecurity strategy. They make major decisions about risk
management, security policies, data protection and incident response. The CISO ensures that

all departments follow best security practices and that the organisation stays protected from
                     evolving threats.
