“Respect, decency, and ethics online are just as important
as behaviour in real life. Therefore, it is important to create
a positive digital footprint by following the 5 Ps.”
Deleted online content can still remain accessible because screenshots, backups, and stored copies
keeps it alive, which is why it is often said that the Internet never forgets.

TRACK YOUR DIGITAL FOOTPRINT Century #Critical Thinking
Skills
Ask students to silently think about everything they did online today. This can include:
Searching for something on Google Watching or liking a YouTube video
Sending a message on WhatsApp Browsing a website
Playing an online game Logging into social media
Downloading a file Posting a photo or comment
Encourage them to recall even the small activities—they all count.
In their notebook, they should write any three things they did online today.
Example:
Searched for science project ideas on Google
Liked a music video on YouTube
Sent a homework question to a friend on WhatsApp
Ask them to label each activity as:
Active Footprint (when you post, comment, like, upload, share)
Passive Footprint (when websites collect your data automatically (location, browsing, clicks))
Minimise Digital Footprint
A digital footprint can affect security, privacy, reputation, and overall well-being. Every online
action creates a trail. By keeping this trail small, a person stays safer, more private, and more in
control of the online identity.
