SECURING YOUR WHATSAPP ACCOUNT
WhatsApp is one of the most widely used applications for communication across many
countries. As a result, WhatsApp hacking has also become quite common. Features such
as chat lock, profile photo privacy, app lock, view once messages, and status privacy
help add extra layers of protection to an account. Let us understand each feature:
A. Lock Your Private Chats
Private conversations can be secured with a password and kept hidden. Locked
chats will not appear in the main chat list; instead, they will be stored in a
separate Locked Chats folder.
The steps to lock or unlock a chat are as follows:
Step 1 Long-press the chat to select it.
Step 2 Tap the three-dots menu at the top-right corner.
Step 3 Choose Lock Chat or Unlock Chat from the options.
When chat lock is enabled, no participant in the chat is notified, and the chat will close automatically
whenever the device is locked.
B. Add Face ID, Touch ID, or Fingerprint to secure your account
App lock on WhatsApp provides an additional layer of security, ensuring that only the authorised
user can open the app. Once activated:
On Android, WhatsApp can be unlocked using Fingerprint or Face Recognition.
On iOS, it can be unlocked using Touch ID or Face ID.
On Web, it can be unlocked with a password.
Even when the app is locked, it is still possible to reply to messages from notifications and answer
incoming calls.
The steps to enable app lock on WhatsApp on Android OS are as follows:
Step 1 Open WhatsApp.
Step 2 Tap the three dots (Menu) in the top-right corner.
Step 3 Select the Settings option.
Step 4 Select the Privacy option.
Step 5 Select the App lock option.
