                 PROTECTING PERSONAL DATA

Protecting personal data is an essential part of staying safe

in the digital world. Personal information—such as photos,
phone numbers, addresses, school details, or social media
posts—can be misused if it falls into the wrong hands. We often
hear real incidents where a student’s photo was taken from
social media and used to create a fake profile. Such misuse
can cause emotional stress, embarrassment, harassment,
or bullying. These problems can be avoided when individuals

use strong privacy settings and share information carefully.
Safeguarding personal data means understanding the value of the information shared and taking
steps to control who can access it. Strong passwords, private accounts, two-factor authentication,
and limited sharing prevent strangers from viewing personal content. When data is protected, it
reduces the chances of cyber-attacks, fraud, and identity theft, where someone pretends to be

                 another person for harmful purposes.
