                   7. Why is it important to address the needs and expectations of different user groups in information design?
                   8. What are the four types of wayfinding signage, and what is their primary function?
                   9. Explain the role of user needs in the context of information design.

                  10. What are the key components of the information design process?
              V. Long answer type questions.

                   1. Discuss the significance of information design in everyday contexts, providing specific examples from the
chapter. How does it enhance our understanding and interaction with complex data?

                   2. How does consistency in wayfinding signage contribute to a better user experience? Explain using few examples.
                   3. How can the principles of information design be applied to improve digital interfaces, such as websites or
mobile apps? Provide examples to illustrate your points.
                   4. How do regulatory signs contribute to safety and order in public spaces? Provide examples to support your
                     answer.
                   5. What is information mapping? Explain its flow.
                                                                                                21 st #Critical Thinking
VI. Competency-based questions. Century #Technology Literacy
                                                                                               Skills
                   1. You are part of a design team tasked with improving the wayfinding system at a large international airport. The
airport currently receives many complaints from travellers about difficulty navigating through the terminal,
finding gates, restrooms, dining areas, and other facilities. Your team needs to develop a comprehensive and
user-friendly signage system that enhances the travel experience by providing clear, concise, and visually
                     appealing directions and information.

Answer the following questions to help design the signage system.
                      (a) List at least five critical areas within the airport that require clear signage. Explain why clear signage is
                         essential for each area.
                      (b) Based on the fundamentals of information design, describe three design principles you would apply to the
airport signage system to ensure it is effective.
                      (c) Create a detailed design plan for one of the key areas you identified. Include the following elements in your
                         plan:
                         • The type of signage (Identification, Informational, Directional, Regulatory)

                         • Content (Text, icons, symbols)
                         • Colour scheme and rationale
                         • Placement of signage within the area
                      (d) Outline a strategy for testing your signage design with actual users. How would you gather feedback and
make improvements based on user input?
