6. Present Your Design:
Prepare a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation (3-5 slides) to share your work with the class. Include:
l Slide 1: Design Challenge and Natural Inspiration
l Slide 2: Product Concept Description
l Slide 3: Product Sketch and Labelled Features
l Slide 4: Sustainability Plan
7. Peer Feedback and Reflection:
Present your design to the class and gather feedback. Afterward, write a short reflection on the feedback and any
further improvements you would consider.
Read the following blog for examples of products designed using biomimicry - https://aplanet.org/

Example: Bio-Inspired Cooling Bottle
The goal is to design a water bottle that minimises water waste by keeping the water cool for longer periods, reducing
the need for frequent refills or refrigeration.
Natural Inspiration:
Inspired by the African Elephant’s ears and the cooling effect of desert beetles:
l African elephants cool themselves by circulating blood through their large, thin ears.
l Desert beetles collect dew and direct it to their mouths using grooves on their shell.
Think of the Product Concept as follows:
The Bio-Cool Bottle is a portable water bottle designed to reduce water waste through innovative cooling. It incorporates
grooves inspired by desert beetles for condensation collection and a thin, heat-dissipating material inspired by elephant
ears to keep water cool. This design eliminates reliance on refrigeration and reduces water loss through evaporation.)

Redesign of an Object that you take to School
1. Choose one simple product that you carry with you to school (for example: water bottle, schoolbag, umbrella, tiffin
box, watch, etc.)
2. Write a short brief (around 10 sentences) on what you like and what you do not like about the product.
3. Exchange the brief with your friend.
4. Do a deep diving exercise to understand the friend and the product better.
5. Write a redefined brief understanding the key problem/opportunity area for design intervention.
6. Identify problem/gap areas/opportunity areas.
7. See if inspirations from nature could be used for its improvement.
8. Sketch 5 to 7 concepts.
9. Discuss and present it to your friend/class.
10. Improvise on the product after feedback from the friend.
11. Try and make a mock model.
12. Final sketch, a pencil or pen rendering of the final design.
13. Prepare a 5 slides presentation that shows the process followed.
