° Cultural importance (festivals, historical places).
° Environmental concerns (pollution, conservation efforts).
                 3. Design the Poster (Students can use Canva):
                    l Use colourful visuals like:

° A map showing the rivers.
° Symbols or icons for cities, dams, or wildlife.
° Fun facts in boxes or bubbles.

l Keep the design simple and easy to read.
                 4. Present the Poster:

l Display the poster in the classroom.
l Explain why the chosen rivers are important and how the design helps people understand the
                        information easily.

                 Example:
l For river Ganga: Show a map of its path, list cities like Varanasi and Haridwar, and mention its cultural
significance during festivals like Ganga Dussehra.

                 Activity 4
This task focuses on reducing plastic waste by designing a reusable water bottle made from sustainable
materials. Students have to create a reusable water bottle that is durable, ergonomic, and environmentally
friendly, encouraging students to adopt sustainable habits.
                 Steps for the Task:

                 1. Problem Identification:
l Research issues with disposable plastic water bottles, such as environmental pollution and lack of
                        recycling.
l Identify needs for a reusable water bottle, such as portability, durability, and ease of cleaning.
                 2. Concept Development:
                    l Brainstorm innovative features like:
° Lightweight yet sturdy materials (e.g., stainless steel or bamboo).

                        ° A leak-proof cap with an easy-carry handle.
° Measurement markers to encourage hydration.
                 3. Inspiration from Nature:
                    l Apply biomimicry principles:
° Cactus Structure: Design a cooling sleeve inspired by cacti to keep water cool in hot climates.
° Lotus Leaf Effect: Use hydrophobic material inspired by lotus leaves for easy cleaning.
                 4. Sketching and Prototyping:

l Create detailed sketches showcasing the bottle’s shape, lid design, and additional features.
l Use eco-friendly materials (e.g., cardboard, clay) to build a simple prototype.
                 5. Evaluation and Feedback:
l Share the prototype with classmates for feedback on usability, comfort, and aesthetics.

l Revise the design based on the suggestions received.

                                                                                                       Practical
                                                                                                                     251
