Match the situations to the type of attitude that an entrepreneur is showing. [NCERT]
Situation Attitude
a. Aamir has been an entrepreneur for 15 years. His business has a culture, (i) Decisiveness
where people working with him are free to give feedback on his work and
share new ideas for the business .
b. Shanaya wants to start a sweet shop. After speaking to some people in her (ii) Taking initiative
area, she finds out that nobody sells healthy sweets. She decides to make
non-fried sweets.
c. Malvika has a book selling business. One day, a shipment of her books gets (iii) Interpersonal skills
lost. This creates a lot of problems for her customers. She apologises to them
and works hard for two days to get a new shipment by the next day.
d. Archana wants to start a 24x7 medical shop in her village. However, she does (iv) Perseverance
not know anything about medicines and has doubts about her selling skills.
After talking to some people, she realises how important it is. Finally, she
works with a pharmacist to set up a medical store.

The term ‘entrepreneur’ is derived from the French word entreprendre, that means "to undertake."

Entrepreneurship can be defined as “an economic process in which an idea or an opportunity is
ÿ
generated, improved, developed, and implemented while being exposed to uncertainty in order to
realise a profit through effective resource utilisation.”
Entrepreneurship is the perfect combination of art and science because it involves definite progression
ÿ
and procedures to be followed as well as the ability to deviate whenever necessary while still making
the entire activity profitable and growth-oriented.
The qualities of a successful entrepreneur include initiative, willingness to take risks, ability to learn
ÿ
from mistakes, motivation, self-confidence, hard work, and ability to make decisions.
There are various types of entrepreneurs.

The essential functions of an entrepreneur include identifying business opportunities, putting ideas
ÿ
into action, feasibility study, resources, establishing an enterprise, managing the business, and growth
and development.
Qualities that motivate an entrepreneur are excellence as a standard, uniqueness, concentrating on
ÿ
long-term goals, exerting influence, identifying possibilities and taking risks.
A startup is a business that is in its early stages of development.
ÿ
The Government of India's flagship initiative, ‘Startup India,’ aims to create an ecosystem for the growth
ÿ
of startup businesses.
