Ascending Order: Data is arranged from smallest to largest, or alphabetically from A to Z.
Descending Order: Data is arranged from largest to smallest, or alphabetically from Z to A.
Consider the following spreadsheet:

In order to see the student obtaining the highest total, we need to sort the data in descending order of ‘Total’.
Follow the given steps:
Step 8 Select the data to be sorted.
Step 9 Click on Data Sort on the menu bar. The Sort dialog box will open.

Step 3 Select Sort criteria tab and select Total from the drop-down list.
Step 4 Then, tick on the checkbox selecting descending order.
Step 5 Click on the OK button. This will arrange the data in descending order of Total as shown:
