1. On World Environment Day, i.e., 5 June, each student was asked either to
plant a tree or adopt a tree in their neighbourhood. The following is the record
of the trees planted: Neem trees – 2150; Ashoka trees – 1750; Mango trees
– 3225; Eucalyptus trees – 1255. Also, 3450 students adopted a tree in their
neighbourhood.
(a) How many trees were planted in all?
(b) Write the total number of trees planted in the Indian place value system.
(c) What is the difference between the two place values of the digit 8 in
the number obtained in (a)?
(d) How many more trees were planted than adopted by the children?
(e) If A = the sum of total trees planted
B = the number of trees adopted, and
C = the difference of A and B, then find 2A + B – C.
