Preface

Mathematics is more than just numbers and formulas; it is a way of thinking, recognising patterns,
reasoning logically, and solving real-world problems. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020
and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) emphasise conceptual understanding, joyful learning,
and competency-based education. Ganita Kaushal–Classes 6 to 8 are crafted in alignment with
these principles, offering an engaging and interactive approach to learning mathematics.

The book aims to foster confidence in students by presenting mathematical concepts in a clear,
age-appropriate manner. It aligns with the latest NCERT curriculum for Class 6, while extending
learning through activities, illustrations, and thought-provoking questions that nurture curiosity
                  and critical thinking.
This book is designed to guide students in discovering the beauty of mathematics, focusing
not on memorising formulas but on understanding how and why mathematical concepts work.
Interactive questions, marked with the symbol , encourage deep thinking before moving
forward. Answers are provided with the symbol , offering a structured learning process. Each
chapter starts with an introduction and learning outcomes, and concepts are connected to
everyday life, nature, and familiar situations to make learning both meaningful and enjoyable.
Concepts are developed step by step, supported by diagrams and examples, to help students
observe patterns, make predictions, and solve problems independently.

The book also aims to ease the anxiety often associated with mathematics. By presenting
concepts progressively, it encourages understanding through visual learning, with exercises ranging
from basic practice to higher-order questions that challenge students appropriately. Encouraging
discussions about real-life applications helps students connect what they learn to the world
                  around them, reinforcing their understanding.
Designed to support teachers, this book offers flexibility in teaching methods. The emphasis
on patterns, visual representations, and real-life connections encourages deeper exploration and
discussions, moving beyond rote problem-solving. The chapters, with graded exercises and higher-
order questions, help address the varying learning levels in classrooms, promoting inquiry-based
and collaborative learning. The book serves as a resource for creating joyful mathematical
experiences, empowering teachers to inspire students and cultivate a love for the subject.

This book is a reliable academic companion that builds a strong mathematical foundation while
adhering to the goals of NEP 2020 and NCF. Suggestions for improvement are welcome and
