              Add the following.
              1. Tens Ones 2. Tens Ones 3. Tens Ones 4. Tens Ones

                   + 4 + 6 + 3 + 0

in a bowl. You added a few

                                                                                           add?
              Addition in tens

              example 1: Add 20 and 30.

Solution: We first take 2 tens and 3 tens. Then count and find 5 tens in all.
                                                                                                          Tens Ones

                                                                                                            2 0
                                + = + 3 0

                                                                                                            5 0

                   2 tens + 3 tens = 5 tens
              Thus, 20 + 30 = 50.

              example 2: Add 30 and 10.

Solution: We already have 3 tens. If we get 1 more ten, we will have 4 tens in all.

                                                                                                          Tens Ones

                                                                                                            3 0
                                       + = + 1 0

                                                                                                            4 0

                      3 tens + 1 ten = 4 tens

              Thus, 30 + 10 = 40.
