A pattern is a repeated arrangement of numbers,
shapes, colours and so on. Patterns exist all around us.
We can find a pattern in trees and leaves, in window
frames, on the floor, in our clothes, etc.
Look at the pattern in the sequence of letters.
P Q R P Q R P Q R P Q R
The letters P, Q and R are repeated in the same order again and again. The above
sequence forms a pattern.
Let us look at sequence of figures.
Here, you can see that a triangle comes first, then a square; again a triangle, then
a square; and so on. This forms a pattern.
Now look at the sequence of numbers.
2 3 3 2 3 3 2 3 3 2 3 3
Here, 2 comes once, then 3 comes twice, then 2 comes once, then 3 comes twice;
and so on. This also forms a pattern.
