Objective: Help children apply measurement concepts (length, weight, capacity)

to everyday objects through an interactive scavenger hunt.

Materials Required: Printed scavenger hunt list, pencils/crayons, simple measuring
tools (handspan, cups, balance scale, string)

Procedure:

Š Give students this scavenger hunt list and ask them to find something that is:

Shorter than your hand
l
Longer than your pencil
l
Lighter than a book
l
Heavier than a shoe
l
Š Also ask them to find something that can:

l Hold more water than a cup

Hold less water than a bucket
l
Š Let the children explore around the classroom or home and record/draw

their findings.
Š Discuss and compare the discoveries.
