Objective: To understand the concept of grouping in tens and comparing numbers.

Materials required: Pebbles, number cards 10–20, pencil and notebook

               procedure:

Š Make groups of 4 students and provide 20 pebbles to each group.

Š Take a set of number cards from 10 to 20 and give one number card to each

                      group randomly.

Š They will take that many pebbles and show them as tens and ones by grouping
                      10 pebbles.

Š Check if they have shown their number correctly.
Š Say a number from 11 to 20 loudly. Ask which group has fewer pebbles than

                      this number.

Š Give a point to those groups that have less than the number called out.

Š Keep saying different numbers and keep giving points.

Š You might ask who has 'equal to or more than' too.
