When we add 1 to a number or a number to 1, we get the number that comes
just after the given number.
order in Addition
Let us find 2 + 4 and 4 + 2.
2 + 4 = 6 4 + 2 = 6
The answer is the same in both the cases.
In addition, if we change the order of the numbers, the answer does not change.
activity
Objective: To reinforce the concept of order of addition. Experiential Learning
Materials Required: 2 different coloured blocks (red and blue).
Procedure:
Round 1
Take two different colours of blocks (e.g., 4 red and 5 blue).
Make a tower by placing one colour on top of another.
Write the total number of blocks in your notebook.
Round 2
Take apart your tower.
Now rebuild the tower, but this time switch the order of the blocks.
Again, write the total number of blocks in your notebook.
Compare the answers and write what you have understood about the order of addition.
