Objective: To practice comparing two-digit numbers (21–50) using physical

               movement and place value clues.

Materials Required: Chalk, flash cards with numbers or place value clues written
               on them

               Procedure:

Š Write numbers (21 to 50) on the floor in a large open area.

Š Call out a place value clue like ‘A number with 3 tens and 8 ones.’

Š Ask a student to recognise the number from the numbers written on the
floor and stand on that number, that is 38.

Š Again, call out another place value clue like ‘A number with 4 tens and 4 ones.’

Š Ask another student to recognise the number from the numbers written on
the floor and stand on that number, that is 44.

Š Call on another student and instruct him/her to identify which number is

bigger among those numbers, 38 and 44, by passing a handkerchief to the
student standing on the bigger number.

Š If he/she identifies the bigger number correctly, he/she will win a star sticker.

Š Repeat the activity with other students with different clues until time permits.

                      Challenge Question Critical Thinking
