Look at the laddoo tray in the pictures and answer the following
                     questions.
                     1. Are the rows and columns interchanged in the arrangement of laddoos?
                     2. Which property of multiplication is shown in the picture?
                     3. Is 7 twos = 2 fives?

              One and Zero in Multiplication

              Multiplication by 1

Look at the pictures given below. How many parrots are there in cages?

                                                                        1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 4

                                                                        4 groups of 1 parrot each = 4

                                                                        So, 4 × 1 = 4.

                                    Here, 1 group of 4 parrots = 4

                                    So, 1 × 4 = 4.

If we multiply any number by 1, we get the same number.

              Multiplication by 0
Look at the pictures of cages shown alongside. How many

parrots are there in the cages?

              We know that: 0 + 0 = 0

              2 groups of 0 parrots each = 0

              So, 2 × 0 = 0.

If we multiply any number by 0, we get 0.

              doubles

Double means two times of a number.

Nidhi has three erasers. Shruti has double that number.

                                 3 erasers 6 erasers or 2 × 3 = 6 erasers
