                                                                                                 Discussion-Based Learning Experiential Learning
Objective: To reinforce the concept of division.

Materials Required: Ice trays/egg trays, small items – beads/seeds, division

               problem slips
               Procedure:

Š Prepare some paper slips and write a division problem on each one. For
                      example,

                                   20 ÷ 4 = ? 15 ÷ 5 = ?

                                   18 ÷ 7 = ? 30 ÷ 6 = ?

 Arrange the materials such as trays, beads and problem slips on the table.

 Divide the class into groups of 2–3 students each and invite them one by
                      one.

 Each group will pick up a slip. They will try to find the answer by distributing
the number of beads (equal to the dividend) into the shells of the tray.

 They will count 18 beads and place them aside.

 Then they will begin by putting 1 bead in each shell from numbers 1 to 7.
After doing so, they will still be left with some beads.

 The students will continue to put one bead in each slot from numbers 1 to 7.

 When no more beads/insufficient beads are left, the students will complete
the division fact. In this case, 18 ÷ 7 = 2 beads in each shell and 4 leftover

                      beads. That is, 18 ÷ 7 = 2 R 4.
