reaDiNg aND WritiNg 4-Digit Numbers

To read and write the number name, always begin from the highest place, i.e., thousands.

Step 1: Read and write the number name of the thousands place digit and add the word
‘thousand’ after it.
Step 2: Read and write the number name of the hundreds place digit and add the word
‘hundred’ after it.

Step 3: Finally, read and write the number name of the digits in the tens and ones places
together.

Example: Write the number names of the following.
