              types of Patterns

There are various types of patterns, such as repeating, increasing, decreasing, changing

direction, a combination of all these, number patterns, etc. All patterns follow a rule.

                  • Pattern in Shape

Increasing shape pattern Decreasing shape pattern

Rule: The shape increases by one each Rule: The shape decreases by one each

time following the shape . time.
                  • Pattern in Size

Increasing pattern in size Decreasing pattern in size

Rule: The size of the circle increases Rule: The size of the square reduces
                     gradually. gradually.

                                                                  •
                  • Increasing pattern in number as well Changing direction pattern
                   as in size

Rule: A larger circle is added each time. Rule: There is a change in direction and
                                                                          repetition in the pattern.

                  • Combination of pattern

                                                                                                           Experiential Learning
                                                                           Project
Nature is full of patterns and some natural
                                                                      objects or creatures are symmetrical
Rule: This pattern follows a repetition, too. Draw any three symmetrical natural
changing direction and increase in things that makes a pattern.

Look at the pattern and colour the next squares.
