              Conversion

              litre into Millilitre

To convert litres into millilitres, we multiply the number of litres Be Aware

              by 1000. 1 L = 1000 mL
Example 1: Convert the following into mL.
                   (a) 5 L (b) 8 L

              Solution: (a) 5 L = (5 × 1000) mL = 5000 mL (b) 8 L = (8 × 1000) mL = 8000 mL

                               Thus, 5 L = 5000 mL. Thus, 8 L = 8000 mL.
              litre and Millilitre into Millilitre

To convert litres and millilitres into millilitres, we multiply the number of litres by 1000

and add it to the number of millilitres.
Example 2: Convert the following into mL.

                   (a) 4 L 328 mL (b) 3 L 115 mL
              Solution:

                   (a) 4 L 328 mL = (4 × 1000) mL + 328 mL Get it right!
                               = 4000 mL + 328 mL = 4328 mL 4 L 5 mL = 4 L + 500 mL
                   (b) 3 L 115 mL = (3 × 1000) mL + 115 mL 4 L 5 mL = 4 L + 005 mL

                              = 3000 mL + 115 mL = 3115 mL 4 L 5 mL = 4 L + 50 mL

              Millilitre into litre

To convert millilitres into litres, we divide the number of millilitres by 1000.

              Example 3: Convert 6000 mL into L.

              Solution: 6000 mL = (6000 ÷ 1000) L = 6 L 1000 6000 6 L
                             Thus, 6000 mL = 6 L 6000
                                                                                                       0 mL
              Millilitre into litre and Millilitre

To convert millilitres into litres and millilitres, we divide the number of millilitres by 1000.
We get the quotient (in litres) and the remainder (in millilitres).

              Example 4: Convert 9950 into L and mL. 1000 9950 9 L

              Solution: 9950 mL = (9950 ÷ 1000) L 9000
                                      = 9 L 950 mL 950 mL

                                           Or
                             9950 mL = 9000 mL + 950 mL = 9 L + 950 mL = 9 L 950 mL

                             Thus, 9950 mL = 9 L 950 mL.
