              Example 3: Add 35 kg 780 g, 64 kg 85 g and 9 kg 8 g. Example 2: Add 56 L 346 mL and 71 L 465 mL.

Solution: Arrange the given measures in the kg and g columns correctly. Now, add Solution: Arrange the given measures in the two columns of L and mL and add them.
                             them. Step 1: Add millilitres. 346 mL + 465 mL = 811 mL L mL
Step 1: Add grams. kg g Write 811 under the mL column. 1 1 1

                                       780 g + 85 g + 8 g = 873 g 1 1 1 5 6 3 4 6

                                       Write 873 under the g column. 3 5 7 8 0 Step 2: Add litres. 56 L + 71 L = 127 L + 7 1 4 6 5
                             Step 2: Add kilograms. 6 4 0 8 5 Write 127 under the L column. 1 2 7 8 1 1

                                       35 kg + 64 kg + 9 kg = 108 kg + 9 0 0 8 Thus, 56 L 346 mL + 71 L 465 mL = 127 L 811 mL
                                       Write 108 under the kg column. 1 0 8 8 7 3 Example 3: Find the sum of 72 L 360 mL and 64 L 950 mL.

                             Thus, 35 kg 780 g + 64 kg 85 g + 9 kg 8 g = 108 kg 873 g Solution: Step 1: Add millilitres and convert the sum into litres and millilitres.

                                                                                                                                                                 360 + 950 = 1310 mL = 1000 mL + 310 mL

If the units of the numbers to be added are the same, then add the numbers and write practice time 9d

              Example 1: Find: (a) 56 L + 12 L. (b) 735 mL + 605 mL. (a) m cm (b) m cm (c) km m

                                  + 1 2 L 7 3 5 mL + 2 1 4 3 + 1 9 5 3 9 + 2 1 4 5 4 7

                                     6 8 L + 6 0 5 mL

                                                                 1 3 4 0 mL = 1000 mL + 340 mL (d) kg g (e) L mL (f) L mL

                             Thus, 56 L + 12 L = 68 L Thus, 735 mL + 605 mL = 1 L 340 mL 4 6 0 6 1 0 6 9 0 0 9 5 0 6 0 4 5
