Example 1: Two ropes are 15 m 36 cm and 14 m 85 cm long. Find their total length.

Thus, the total length of the two ropes is 30 m 21 cm.

Example 2: A tree was 22 m 40 cm high. The upper part of the tree has been broken by
the wind, and the remaining height of the tree is 8 m 56 cm. Find the height of the part
of the tree broken by the wind.

Height of the remaining part of tree = – 8 5 6

Thus, 13 m 84 cm part of the tree has been broken by the wind.

Example 3: Raghav bought two bags of sugar weighing, 18 kg 200 g and 32 kg 900 g
respectively. Find their total weight.

Example 4: An empty basket weighs 1 kg 36 g, and the basket full of fruits weighs 29 kg.
What is the weight of the fruits?
