As explained earlier, the hour hand goes round the dial twice in one day. So it shows the
same time twice every day.
• The time from 12 o’clock midnight to 11:59 in the morning is shown by the small
letters ‘a.m.’ (ante meridiem).
• The time from 12 o’clock noon to 11:59 at night is shown by the small letters ‘p.m.’
(post meridiem).
