              When we arrange the numbers in decreasing order, that is, from the greatest to the
              smallest, it is called descending order.

              So, the descending order of the numbers is: 6543 > 5023 > 2937 > 1359.

              Example: The depth of the Atlantic Ocean is 3646 m; the Pacific Ocean is 4280 m;

              the Arctic Ocean is 1204 m and the Indian Ocean is 3741 m. Arrange these depths in
              descending order.

              Solution:  Looking at the thousands place digits, 3, 4, 1 and 3; we find that 4 > 3 = 3 > 1.
                           This means that 4280 is the greatest and 1204 is the smallest. Now, comparing
                           the hundreds digits of the other two numbers, 3741 and 3646, we find 7 > 6.

                           So, 3741 > 3646.                                      Th H      t   O

                              Thus, the depths of the oceans in descending 3 6 4 6

                           order are:                                            4    2    8   0      Greatest number
                                                                                 1    2    0   4      Smallest number
                           4280 m > 3741 m > 3646 m > 1204 m                     3    7    4   1
