Example 1: A bus can carry 52 passengers. How many passengers can 36 buses

Solution: Number of passengers 1 bus can carry = 52 5 2
Number of buses = 36 × 3 6

So, number of passengers 36 buses can carry 3 1 2
= 52 × 36 = 1872 + 1 5 6 0

Therefore, 36 buses can carry 1872 passengers.
Example 2: A packet contains 144 balloons. Find the number of balloons in 24 such packets.

Solution: Number of balloons in 1 packet = 144 Th H T O
Number of packets = 24 1 4 4

So, the number of balloons in 24 such packets × 5 7 6
1st product
= 144 × 24 = 3456 balloons + 2 8 8 0 2nd product
Therefore, 24 packets contain 3456 balloons. 3 4 5 6 Sum
