Gamified Learning Experiential Learning
objective: To understand the concept of metric measures of length and weight
(mass).
Materials required: A measuring tape, a weighing machine, chalk powder, balls and
wooden stick of different weights and sizes, pencil and notebook
procedure:
The teacher should take out the class to the
playground to perform this activity. She/he may
invite the physical education teacher for guidance.
Using the chalk powder, draw a circle and mark a
few lines at a certain distance such as the track
used in a shot put event.
Divide the class into groups of 5-6 students and invite the group one by one.
A member of a group will take a ball and throw it as far as possible. Other
members will measure the distance using measuring tape and note down the
measurement.
Repeat the activity till all members take their turn. Arrange the performance
in ascending or descending order.
The activity will be done by each group.
For variation, teacher can ask the best performers of each
group to do the activity with a slightly heavier ball. The best
among all performers can be rewarded.
Instead of balls, they can be also asked to throw wooden sticks
like a javelin throw.
Life Skills Critical Thinking
For a family function Mrs Srivastava needed 50 L of cooking oil. The oil is
available at a nearby shop in different volumes as shown here. Think about the
combination of containers that she can buy. E
